Geocache Description:

Parking for this cache is off Depot Road in Candia at the East Candia Depot Parking Lot (N43 02.544 W71 15.093). This was the site of the Candia Train Depot from 1852 until 1948. Now it is an empty lot used for trail parking.

This is Bella’s favorite place to hike. Bella is a two-year-old Hungarian Vizsla who loves to run through the woods chasing chipmunks and birds. Round trip it’s 3.22 miles hike and the views can be great depending on the season. As you walk by the wetlands watch for the beavers, deer and moose that have been around. We’ve also seen otter, foxes and turtles along the trail. You may even run into Bella.

The trail is called the Newfields Rail Trail and it runs for 26 miles between Newfields and Lake Massabesic. From the parking lot head southeast down the trail for 1.15 miles and turn left onto an unmarked trail. This will bring you onto the Raymond NH conservation land. Your next left will be just about .16 miles from there. This is also an unmarked trail so be careful not to miss it. The hiding spot is just under a half mile uphill. Enjoy!

If you’re looking for an extra hike after you find the cache go back to The Newfields Rail Trail and keep going until you reach Onway Lake. There are cliffs at the end of the lake with a bolder balancing high above the water. In the warmer months watch and listen for the loons.
