A camo'd plastic pill container marking a little-known entrance to the Coyote Creek Trail
This cache will help you find a "secret" entrance to the Coyote Creek Trail on Monterey Highway. It is tucked between a farm and a nursery. If you blink while driving down Monterey Highway, you may miss it. There are signs here, but they are subtle, and mainly just list some rules and mark the County Parks boundary. There is room to park near the entrance. A small gap in the fence allows entry. An old dirt farm road leads to the paved Coyote Creek Trail right at the corner where it turns around the end of a fishing pond. Just beyond that, the trail crosses Coyote Creek. From the entrance, it's a short walk to "Coyote Creek Fishing Pond" (GCRT24). A little farther is "Bailey's Crossing"(GCRT25). If you're on a bike, you can easily reach "Power Madness" (GCRT23). The cache is located just beyond the entrance. There has been a lot of feral pig activity here, so the ground may be torn up. Watch your step. Watch out for the thistles, too. Make sure you keep it covered to avoid muggling. If you happen to already be on the Coyote Creek Trail, you can find the dirt road leading to this entrance at N 37° 12.787, W 121° 43.845. The original cache site has grown into a jungle and is too hard to keep track of the cache. I moved the cache closer to the entrance and in a less wooded area. It should make it easier to find and maintain, but more subject to muggling. I had to make it smaller, from a small to a micro. The original may still be there at N 37° 12.682 W 121° 43.968.
