Fairly easy bush walk in a figure 8, with some small valleys to walk up and down through. Since my previous visit quite a few trees had fallen in wind and we had to step over or around these.
Container is 450ml screwtop container camo painted.
The cache is hidden in the Kerr-Taylor Reserve.
This was gifted to the people of New Zealand and the Forest and Bird Society of New Zealand by the Kerr-Taylor family.
I understand that the nearby Hunting Lodge belonged to the Kerr-Taylor family and was their country home away from Alberton House in Mt Albert.
Please show respect whilst on the track as some of the family are burried in the area.
There are some great Kauri trees , including one large one with board walks around the base to protect the roots.
Around the walk are several seats with great views and each seat is dedicated to a member of the Kerr-Taylor family, as well as a rock with details regarding the gifting of the reserve.
I've done this walk twice at dusk and walked out in the dark however I would only recommend this for agile people with headlamps or good eyesite.
I've also done this walk with children age 6 and above without too much trouble.
Good walking shoes recommended.
The cache is hidden on a part of the track which has a drop off to one side and uphill on the other. It is surrounded by an area of relatively poor GPS coverage so please expect some frustration, however sticking to the track will lead you in the right direction.
I could not get more accurate reading than 9m so expect to hunt around abit. ;)

Walk takes about 45 minutes in daylight if you don't stop too often to admire views and trees.
