Hedensted er Danmarks nyeste
stationsby.
heden, men slår man op i
Gyldendals Stednavneordbog, kan man læse, at byen i 1297 hed
Hæthænstat, hvilket i 1495 blev til Heinstet –
Hethins
bebyggelsessted.
I bil

A
trin op til positionen, hvorfra man
blandt andet kan se Danske Bank. På nogle af perron- standerne
sidder der et perronlængdeskilt – tallet
B
findes ved siden af skiltet
Perronafsnit A
på spor 3.
Posthuset: 55° 46.155' N /
9° 41.892' E
Sydbank.
Ved venstre side af døren til
posthuset ser man tallet
C
E
.
Boldhallen: 55° 46.269' N /
9° 42.393' E
Denne lille boldhal var
oprindeligt byens svømmehal. Bygningen indeholdt da to
N / 9° 41.417' E
Oprindeligt lå her en enkelt
I dag
Bowlingcenter.
Svømmehallens logo har
G
bølgetoppe, mens der er i
H
kegler i bowlingcentrets logo (det
lille).
Grøften: 55° 46.397' N / 9°
40.685' E
giver
I
.
Småkagefabrikken: 55°
45.684' N / 9° 41.122' E
Industrikvarterer i større byer
lugter ikke altid lige godt. I Hedensted lugter det sydlige
industrikvarter ofte af småkager, for her ligger småkagefabrikken,
der i dag hedder Jacobsen's Bakery. Tæt på ligger bl.a. Air
J
.
Tallet
K
er tallet over porten længst til højre
af de fire nummererede porte på småkagefabrikken.
Grusgraven: 55° 46.511' N /
9° 42.239' E
L
Kirken: 55° 46.185' N / 9°
42.229' E
Hedensted Kirke er et besøg værd,
især hvis man interesserer sig for kalkmalerier. Især i kirkekoret
Uden for kirken findes
blandt andet en mindesten for den gæve ungkarl Terkel Sørensen
Schou.
Hr. Schou blev født i år
M. Kirketårnet
rummer
N
ure.
Bytorvet: 55° 46.157' N /
9° 42.086' E
Kontroller at låget lukkes rigtigt, inden cachen lægges tilbage –
der er ingen pose rundt om beholderen. Vær også sikker på at gemme
beholderen godt igen.
God fornøjelse!
English
:
Hedensted is the newest station
town in
Denmark
. In fact, it has always been a station town – the station itself
was just temporarily closed for 32 years until a new station opened
on 7 January
2006.
If you know Danish, you might be
tempted into thinking that the name means
a place on the heath
(which is also the Danish name for
this cache). However, that is not actually true. The name is a
mutation from the original name of Hæthænstat back in 1297 and it
translates into Hethin's
place of residence. Today
the town has about 6.000 inhabitants and it has almost merged with
neighbouring town Løsning with about 4.000
inhabitants.
Start the round trip on the new
station and find a lot of values along the route. These will have
to be inserted into the calculation below which will then give the
final cache position.
You can find the points along the
way in any order and it will be a long trip by foot. It is quite
easy by car or bicycle – you can get quite close to all points
along the way and you will only have a little walking to
do.
The Station: 55° 46.095' N
/ 9° 41.937' E
The new Hedensted Station lies
slightly north of the old station, the buildings of which now
contain a shop. The new station is still within the original
station limits and it has therefore not been necessary to make
major changes to tracks and signaling systems. At the opening party
on 7 January around 3,000 people turned up and extra supplies of
sausages had to be acquired.
Start by taking the
A
steps up onto the position. From here
you can see the Danske Bank. On some of the poles on the platforms
there are signs showing the length of the platform – the
number B
can be found on the pole with
the Perronafsnit
A sign on platform
3.
The Post Office: 55°
46.155' N / 9° 41.892' E
In the great times of the old
station the building contained both station and post office. When
the station was closed, the post office remained for a few years
but when the library moved over to the school, the post office
moved into this building where it can still be found
today.
A the left side of the entrance
door to the post office you will see a number
C
. On the corner at Sydbank you will see a couple of blue signs on
which you can find the number
D
(8 digits)
on the bottom of the leftmost
sign.
The Library: 55° 46.256' N
/ 9° 42.193' E
The parking lot in front of the
library used to be the schoolyard for
Hedensted
School, once located where the
library is now – the large building going out towards the street
was the old gymnastics hall. Since then, the school has been
extended and now lies behind the library.
The number of concrete poles in
front of the entrance is the number
E
.
The Ball Hall: 55° 46.269'
N / 9° 42.393' E
This small gym hall for ball
games used to be a swimming facility. Back then, it contained two
changing rooms and a very small pool. As time went by, it was seen
as too small and in 1989 a new swimming facility was built next to
the existing sports facilities (now known as DØI) and the building
was converted into a ball games hall for the school.
The changing rooms had small
rooms facing the parking lot and these are now covered. The number
of windows is
F
.
The Sports Facilities: 55°
46.882' N / 9° 41.417' E
Originally, this place had only a
single sports hall but a second one was soon added and then a third
one. Today the facilities, DØI, covers three halls, a fitness
centre, a swimming facility with three pools, and the bowling hall,
named Østjysk Bowlincenter.
The swimming facility's logo
has G
wave tops and the bowling centre
has H
pins (the small logo).
The Trench: 55° 46.397' N /
9° 40.685' E
Tagkær Grøft is a small trench,
today originating just north of the centre of Hedensted. From here
it runs along one of the newest quarters, Skovbrynet (The
Woodline), until it runs into the Gesager Å. At this position the
trench crosses a cable marked with a sign.
On this sign you will find a
telephone number as well as another number. The first two figures
of this number will give you
I
.
The Cookie Factory: 55°
45.684' N / 9° 41.122' E
Industrial areas in large cities
rarely smell very good. In Hedensted, the southmost industrial area
often smells of cookies because there is a cookie factory, today
going by the name of Jacobsen's Bakery. Nearby you will find Air
Liquide, a factory producing liquid nitrogen and oxygen by
distilling air.
From this parking lot you can see
a number of large gas tanks – the number is
J
.
K
is the number over the rightmost of
the four numbered loading doors on the cookie factory.
The Quarry: 55° 46.511' N /
9° 42.239' E
In this disued quarry you will
find a put & take centre with three fishing ponds, a barbecue
area, and a playground. The surroundings are quite beautiful and
you can easily enjoy the place without fishing. Should you fancy
swinging the rod, it is said to be a challenge catching the fish
here compared to other put & take places.
On this position there is a
flagpole surrounded by
L
stones. If you see no flagpole, it has
probably not been replaced yet, but you should quite easily be able
to find a small, round "bedding" where it used to be.
The Church: 55° 46.185' N /
9° 42.229' E
Hedensted
Church is worth a visit,
especially if you are interested in frescoes. It has several,
original frescoes and five years ago, during an extension, even
more original frescoes were found. These were made in 1550,
somewhat contradicting the general saying that no frescoes were
made after the Reformation. Outside the church you can find a
monumental stone about Terkel Sørensen Schouh, the
bachelor.
Mr. Schou was born in the year
of
M
. The church tower contains
N
clocks.
The
Town
Square: 55° 46.157' N
/ 9° 42.086' E
Surrounded by shops and near the
starting point of the journey you will find Bytorvet (The Town
Square). Look around and you will see a ball fountain where a huge
marble is floating on top of the water running out of the stone
below – the ball is quite easy to start rolling and it will keep
going for a long time afterwards.
Right around the fountain there
is a number of drains – there is one large drains and
P
small drains.
The cache
You can find the cache at this
position: : N 55° (2(T+U+W)-475)/1000 E 009°
((X+Y+Z)+221)/1000
The position may be somewhat
inaccurate due to bad reception most of the time.
The cache itself is a clear plastic container with a tight lid.
Please check that it is properly closed before putting it back –
there is no bag around the container. Also make sure to hide it
properly.
Enjoy the trip!
