Coyote Creek Golf Crossing Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

STP Ron: I've never seen so many homeless camps in this area. It's getting too dicey around here. I'm going to archive this.

Geocache Description:

Micro located near a golf course bridge over Coyote Creek

This is the second cache going north that I placed today on the Coyote Creek Trail north of Capitol Expressway. So far, the Coyote Creek Trail runs continuously from Anderson Dam in Morgan Hill to near Tully Road in San Jose. The County Parks part of the trail stops at Hellyer Park. North of Yerba Buena Road, it's a San Jose city park trail. Between Yerba Buena and Capitol Expressway is an old forlorn section that needs work. North of Capitol is a newer section that looks as good, or even better, than the county part of the trail. I put a series of caches here to draw attention to this new trail segment. This new section is sandwiched between Coyote Creek and the Los Lagos Golf Course from Capitol Expressway to Stonegate Park. Los Lagos is a public course, owned by the city of San Jose. The trail is gated at each end. The gate is closed after sunset. Don't get stuck between the gates after dark, or you'll have to escape through the golf course. You can park for free at the golf course, though it tends to be crowded on weekends. You can't technically access the Coyote Creek Trail directly from the golf course unless you are golfing. The closest place to park at the south entrance is at the shopping center at Tuers and Capitol. The closest place to park at the north end is at Stonegate Park at Tuers Road and Gassmann Drive.

The trail runs through a shady woodland area at the base of a small hill just before you reach the cache. You can see Coyote Creek flowing a short distance away. This cache is hidden about 20-30 feet from the trail, a little south of a new long pedestrian bridge over Coyote Creek. However, unless you're golfing at the Los Lagos Golf Course, you can't use the bridge.

The original cache was a sign-only micro.

Update 6/3/07: Due to popular request (or unpopular complaints), this cache has been upgraded from a micro to a camo'd 60 oz Lock&Lock container.

10/21/12 update: unfortunately, the Lock-N-Lock got muggled. It's back to a micro. If you see dishes with food or water on the ground or cat boxes, they're not from me. I updated the description and hint.

1/20/13 update: it looks like the micro was muggled, so I put a new cache in a different location, a short distance away. It's a little larger. I put a rubber duckied in it. No pen, though. I updated the coordinates and hint.
