Not The Primaries Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

muchado: I'm really sorry to see this one go, but as I said on my last maintenance visit, the camo was deteriorating. When I went to check on the cache this time, the camo was still there, but it has deteriorated enough to no longer be effective. In fact, I'm not sure this cache was muggled. There's a good chance the last finder found the container laying in the open because it fell out of the camouflage. I was not able to find the remnants of the cache with the snow cover. I'll go reclaim that later.

This cache held three "favorite" spots for me.

  1. It was my favorite hide. I had found an old uprooted tree stump while wandering around Legacy Park in Bedford. I brought it home and hollowed out a space in the trunk portion of the stump large enough to hold a medium sized lock & lock. I used heavy duty velcro and a rubber band to keep the container in its hidey hole. I then just laid the stump among all the other driftwood laying around by the riverside. I thought it was very cool and got a lot of compliments on it.

  2. It was my favorite cache name. I thought it was very clever being both an homage to the original team name of the Fisher Cats and an homage to one of my favorite cache hiders NotThePainter.

  3. It was my favorite story about a misadventure hiding the cache. I can't tell the story here and I can't even tell you why I can't tell it. Ask me through my profile if you are interested.

Geocache Description:

A visit to MerchantsAuto.com Stadium. An easy quarter mile round trip walk mostly on a paved walkway, but, a 50 foot bushwack/descent at the cache.

4/8/2006 - NotTheFisherCatsStadium! The stadium has been renamed to MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are an AA Eastern League afiiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. The stadium opened on April 7, 2005 after eleven months of construction at a cost of $20 million. It seats 6,900 people.

The original name of the Fisher Cats was the New Hampshire Primaries. I thought it was a very creative and fun name for the club. Most people in the area, however, did not like the name and there was a popular revolt. The management relented and put the team name up for a vote: Fisher Cats won. The cache name reflects my longing for the original team name as well as a "tip of the hat" to the organizer of the Bread & Roses Geo Event at which this cache was first published.

The cache is a 2-quart Lock & Lock container with Fisher Cats and other baseball-related trading items. Please restrict all trades to baseball-related items. I would like this cache to remain a baseball themed cache.

Please Note

  • You may want to bring along a pair of leather gloves. You don't need them to find the cache, but they may come in handy as you are searching. In other words, you don't have to touch or put your hands anywhere that I wouldn't without leather gloves.
  • You don't have to get your feet (or any other part of your person) wet in order to find the cache.
  • You should avoid this cache on game days since nearby parking will be hard to come by and expensive. You can find a schedule here.
  • This is a 2-quart lock & lock. It's not a micro or a small. Keep this in mind as you're searching!
