SC Fire - Stars and Stripes Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is part of the new series to highlight the Fire Stations in Santa Clara, CA.

Pre-Adoption Text: This is a new series which I put together for 2006. Just like our Light Rail Series, this Series was put together because my son loves Fire Engines. My Father is a Volunteer Fire Man in Kaysville UT.

When you purchase a home, one of the items you should take into account is how far away from a Fire Station you are. By having this series, those in Santa Clara can see the distance from their home to the nearest Fire Station.

---

This station was that last of the station locations to be built. Rivermark was a replacement station. Only time will tell if they add more stations in the future.

In 2004, there were 176 Paid Personal with 65 Volunteer/Reserves. Santa Clara is one of the largest cities which still have an active Volunteer service. Check here to find out more information about the Santa Clara Volunteers.

With this location having lots of trees, rocks, and ivy, it was hard to get a good reading on the GPS. And since I don’t have one of the awesome new Garmins, it took 60 readings to get it within 15 feet of the cache! This rating is a 2* since kablooey says 1* should allow a new person to walk up and grab it without searching so much!

---

This is a new series with at the end, you are able to collect a new coin. This series will be a little more difficult to complete then the first one we did. To find this series, you will be given letters you need at each station. You will *not* be given what number they represent. You will not need to leave any public easement to find this number. You will have to figure out what this number is. It would be wise to write down all the numbers you see in the area.

For the FTF of each cache in the series, you will be given an extra Geocoin. And as a bonus, the Geocoin has the correct number printed on it. The person who has the finds this can either share this or keep it to themselves. This is needed to find the final, so it might be to your advantage to not share it. ** I would ask that you please not post a picture of the front side of the Geocoin until the final cache is published **

Good Luck.
