Jan 15 2008: The original container disintegrated rather suddenly,
so I've temporarily replaced it with an Airborne tube. I'll be able
to replace the container 'in-theme' shortly, but this should keep
the cache going in the meantime. This cache originated from
GCR98H, Virus Cache Bravo. I took a hint from budd-rdc's
Virus Bravo One and have put the log in a cardboard tube so
that it is easy to remove from the bottle. Please make sure to put
it back this way. Also make sure the cache is put carefully back
and covered so that it can't be seen from the horse trail that runs
nearby.
There are several ways to approach this cache, but my preferred
entrance is via the Rhus Ridge Trail. Parking for this trailhead
can be found at N 37 21.123 W 122 08.284. This trail avoids the
crowds of the main part of RSA, and even if the small parking lot
is full you can park on the shoulder of Moody Road near the turnoff
for Rhus Ridge Road. The hike from here is short (about a mile)
compared to coming in from the main entrance, but it is steep!
I chose this location specifically because I often come up here
for a shaded breather when hiking/running up the trail. They have
recently trimmed the poison oak along the trail so it is hard to
tell where it will grow back, but I don't recall seeing any in this
area before. However, there is a lot of it in this park so watch
out!
