Geocache Description:

Learn how to go paperless with Palm PDA, Cachemate, GSAK, and PocketQueries.

****FREE Paperless training event, NO attendance limits*****

Saturday March 4th, 2006 10am
Milwaukee Valve

Prairie Du Sac, WI
Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, Fruit and snacks will be provided
(and are acceptable to bring if you so desire)

Feel free to ask for directions, but it is almost under the water tower, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
(I will update and list secondary coordinates to more accurately reflect the parking area and proper door to use.)
I will be showing the basics, and also some advanced tasks, of geocaching paperless. The primary focus will be using a computer, Palm PDA, Cachemate, GSAK, PocketQueries, and Magellan Gold GPSr.

Basics:
Create a PocketQuery (PQ)
Load the PQ data into GSAK
Create a simple filter in GSAK to select certain caches
Copy the cache info from GSAK to the PDA and GPSr
Viewing caches on the PDA with Cachemate

Please let me know if there are any specific advanced topics you would like addressed beyond the basics.

Requested topics:
Hunting Caches while on a trip/vacation. (Show caches that are along a specific route)

**There will be FREE Internet access available!! so feel free to bring your laptop if you have one**
Both wireless and wired connections! Also bring your PDA (even without computer) and connectors if you want to have the software or cache listings installed

I will provide access to a few Palm M5xx series PDAs and a notebook or two for hands on demostration purposes. I will also be able to provide CDs with the listed software for participants to take home, these will be the latest versions of the software available as of the day of the event.

There are no plans for any temp caches, though there are several geocaches in the area. There are caches in Dane, Sauk, and Columbia counties all within a couple miles.

For those whose partners aren't into geocaching, or for those wanting something more to do while in the area:
Wollersheim Winery is having a Open House. It is only about a mile or so away.

Dr. Evermore & Lady Eleanor Owned by one of the WGA board members, and attendee for this event. Next door to Delany's Surplus on Hwy 12 going north towards Baraboo. (GC shows the cache as being 5 miles from this event)

$5 Ammo boxes: Jeff, of Hotdogs_Off_Trail, has graciously offered to deliver ammo boxes from Delany's for anyone wishing to buy some.

*NOTE: the building is security locked, the training room is next to the door and I will post signs on which windows to go knock on to get let in for this event. I should be there at least 30minutes early.
