Geocache Description:

Along a 6km walk - discover a breathtaking panorama

The cache is hidden not far from one of the hikes in Houffalize. Park anywhere in the town center, start the hike at the Tourist information Office (place de l'église). Hikes are very clearly marked with small arrows. Follow the walk "Roche Plate" (hike number 4), marked with a small, blue straightup rectangle. This beautiful hike is just 5 km, and leads through some stunning scenery.
A beautiful spot to have a rest is the bench about halfway, just outside the woods, overlooking the valley. Not far from this bench, you might want to view some silent witnesses to the "Battle of the Bulge", WWII's most bloody battle. About 50 meters from this bench (a bit back; on your right hand side when facing the valley), you will still find a number of bomb craters clearly visible in the woods.
The walk just misses the most spectacular panorama - locating the cache will lead you past it. The cache contains a log and disposable camera. Take a picture of yourself (just one please), leave your details in the log (email), and I will send the picture to you later on! The cache is faily well hidden underneath a rock, and shielded from direct view with smaller rocks. Hope you enjoy the Ardennes!
