Geocache Description:

Unfortunately the original cache disappeared so today (02/01/2022) I replaced the box in exactly the same location. Happy hunting. Beautiful views, some uphill sections, some downhill, fairly steep. Shortest route to the cache is half a mile but i would advise to take a map and make a round route of it and enjoy the views and the flora and fauna. At 669 feet the world is at your feet.

A Tupperware box, medium size-ish. The coordinates are for the Poetstone upon which is a plaque. On this plaque is a dedication with ten numbers in the dedication. Number these numbers numerically as they appear,ie first number as appears is number 1, there are duplicates. Now work these sums out from the numbers on the plaque to gain the coordinates as northerlies and westerlies. N 1+2+2,2,2-2,2+2,.2,4,4-2 W 2-2,2-2,2-2,3-1,3-1+2.3,4-2,4-2 There are many footpaths to the stone but the car park we used is at the end of what was a right of way and the coordinates for this are , N 51 degrees 02.322 W 000 degrees 55.902 Do not block the gateway. I have known the Hangers since i was a child and i still think they are beautiful. Following the suggested path you come to Ellen McCutcheons seat, Ellen was a lovely woman who ran the Harrow Inn at Steep (51'01.215 North,000'55.809) it is well worth a visit with good food and an old fashioned pub with no modern tat, otherwise the Trooper in Froxfield itself is worth a visit. In the spoilers i have included directions to take when the weather is wet as the steep ground can get slippery when wet. I suggest that if you are coming from Petersfield that you head towards Steep and the Cricketers pub, when you reach the pub (on the right)turn right on the crossroads, on up the road until you pass the village hall (on the right) and on a junction with a left turn and a war memorial in the middle ,Mill Lane, you turn left and follow this road for a mile'ish until you reach the car park coordinates. Alternatively if you are coming from the A32 keep going until you get to the top of the hill and turn left up Cockshott Lane, the lane becomes a track but you can park at the top with its junction with Old Litten Lane. Alternatively you can stop at the Trooper Inn and walk from the pub up Honeycritch Lane then Old Litten Lane.
