A 2 to 3 hour return walk for a stunning view from the top on a fine day.
The access road can be closed at times depending on the fire risk.Phone 0800 436 879 to check access for 'Hippolites Road' before starting out.
Beware the cache is at 1150 meters and is subject to changeable and cold conditions, so please be prepared.
Cache is a screw top 500ml camo container with a few trade items.
Park at S41 12.717 E173 29.072 and follow the track sign and orange trail markers to the summit. Then follow the ridge along to the cache. Enjoy the view and the rock formations and outcrops.Gps coverage should be excellent at the summit and actual cache.
The first 200 meters or so may have a bit of gorse at times but improves dramatically after this.
You may even see some native giant land snail shells(Powelliphanta) as I did.
