Geocache Description:

This is the second of 4 letterbox hybrid caches to be place by the Geauga Park District for 2006. As Geauga County celebrates its bicentennial in 2006, the caches will have a historic theme and introduce you to the history of some of our parks. Both geocachers and letterboxers are invited to seek this cache.

NOTE: There is limited parking in the driveway. Take care pulling into and out of driveway. DO NOT BACK OUT! You can turn around up by the barn.
No night caching!

Read the historical stone and then follow the directions below to the cache.

Building is not open.

Find out more about Union Chapel by attending the program on May 10, 2006 at The West Woods.

Like a traditional letterbox, this cache can be found without a GPS if you'd like. Just follow the directions and clues to its location.

The cache has a log/stamp book, ink pad, and signature stamp. If you have your own personal stamp, stamp the cache’s log book…or just sign it. If you have your own log book, stamp it with the cache’s signature stamp. (Please do not take the ink pad or the cache’s signature stamp.) Note: The stamp pad and stamp are missing! 6/22/06

Geocoachers are not required to stamp the log book with their personal stamp and can proceeed directly to the aditional waypoint where they will find the cache hidden. But please take the time to learn about the history of this area before you leave.

DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTERBOX/CACHE

Route 44 in South Newbury is your destination
To find the historic Union Chapel location.
On a large rock an interesting history will yield,
Famous speakers including Susan B. Anthony and President Garfield.
Not a church at all, but a nondenominational meeting space,
From woman’s sufferage to temperance, it was a free speech meeting place.
Right past the barn and bat condo you must proceed,
To the edge of a field with two rows of trees.
On one large cherry you will find,
A hole with the geocache inside.

This cache expires November 1st 2006.
