    Bratislava bola ku koncu 19. storocia dolezitym centrom Uhorska, preto na krajinskom sneme v roku 1889 presadil minister Baross stavbu prveho trvaleho mosta ponad rieku Dunaj. Stavba sa zacala 12.8.1889 podla projektu francuzskeho inziniera F. Cathry-Saléza. O par mesiacov (30.12.1890) ho slavnostne otvoril celny predstavitel Rakusko-Uhorska, a preto dostal meno: Most cisara Frantiska Jozefa. Tvorilo ho sedem poli. Stredne malo dlzku 92 metrov, ostatne 72 a 32 metrov a celkova dlzka bola 458,45 metrov. Stavba pokracovala dalej vystavbou zeleznicneho mostu na spolocnych pilieroch s cestnym,a tak celkovy financny naklad dosiahol 1,7 mil. forintov.
    O niekolko rokov po prevrate prislo k zmene nazvu na: Most generala Stefanika. Pocas II. sv. vojny (2.4.1945) ustupujuce nemecke voska znicili most a pretali tak obidve dolezite tepny: cestnu aj riecnu. Znicena bola nielen zelezna konstrukcia ale aj piliere. Nakoniec bolo rozhodnute o rozsahu oprav, ktore mali navratit most do povodnej funkcnosti. Osloboditelske vojska zacali s rekonstrukciou 6.8.1945 a urcite funkcne provizorium sa dosiahlo 24.1.1946, tak dostal znova novy nazov Most Cervenej armady. Uplne dokonceny bol v roku 1950. Posledny vlak tadial presiel v roku 1985. O 15 rokov neskor sa uskutocnili konstrukcne zasahy na predlzenie zivotnosti a dostavanim Mostu Apollo mal ist do vysluzby, co asi nie je mozne, pretoze je stale dolezitou cestnou tepnou medzi dvomi bratislavskymi brehmi.
    Z vdaky za niekolko rocnu sluzbu sme sem umiestnili jednoduchu skrysu spolu s Lafranconi Bridge, New Bridge, Apollo Bridge a Port Bridge.

By the end of 19th century Bratislava was the important heart of "Uhorsko" (northern part of former Austria-Hungary), therefore in 1889 the bridge construction started to connect two banks of Danube river. The celebration of bridge-opening was held by the end of 1890 and the bridge was opened by head of Austria-Hungary - the emperor Franz Josef, whom the bridge was named after, i.e. "The Bridge of Emperor Franz Josef". Its full length was 458,45 meters. A few years later after the political overthrow the bridge's name was changed to "Bridge of General Stefanik". During World War II (2.4.1945) escaping german soldiers destroyed the bridge and cut two important arteries - the road and the river ones. The liberating armies started to repair the bridge and its functionality was partially restored in 1946, therefore its next name was "The Bridge of Red Army". The bridge was completely reconstructed in 1950. The last train crossed the bridge in 1985. 15 years later some reconstruction was done to prolong its durability and after finishing the bridge Apollo it was planned to retire this bridge, but it is impossible since it became an important artery between two banks of Bratislava.
