This is a major hydro lake on the Clutha River. The dam can be seen
from the cache site.
The "high" dam at Clyde was one of the "Think Big" projects and was
quite a political football prior to construction. It extends from
the township of Clyde to Bannockburn on the Kawarau arm and almost
as far as Tarras on the Clutha arm.
Construction started in 1977 and was completed in 1989.

There must be brown and rainbow trout handy to this spot - you
could, or maybe should, try your luck.
