A visit to St. Cyrus National Nature Reserve. Need to work out co-ordinates Terrain is mostly flat but is uneven in places. Buggies may be in for a bumpy ride.
The Reserve lies to the east of the small town of St Cyrus and the A92, sandwiched between rugged cliffs and the North Sea. A sandy beach blankets the eastern most part of the reserve, but heading west-ward it blends into grass covered dunes. The dunes provide protection from the wind for a small strip of mostly level terrain in between the cliffs and the sea. There are paths that lead from St. Cyrus down the cliffs to the reserve, however because of storms and erosion some have been closed down. The northern most path along the cliffs remain open for anyone wishing to further explore the reserve. The reserve is home to a variety of birds and other wildlife, including walker’s dogs and horse riders. Please note that the area south of the visitor centre is closed between April and August, to protect breeding birds. To find the cache, you will have to visit the Nether Kirkyard and visit various headstones/memorials. The above co-ordinates are the starting point. 1. James Gibson – Died 1 August 1A04 2.
