Der Untere Hauenstein ist ein gut ausgebauter kleiner Pass, der Buckten (Basel Landschaft) mit Trimbach (Solothurn) verbindet.
Es scheint Hinweise zu geben, dass dieser Weg schon von den Römern benutzt wurde. Zudem liegt der Pass in der Nähe der ehemaligen Römerniederlassung Augusta Raurica.

The road to the pass "Untere Hauenstein" is quit good and wide. It connects canton Basel-Landschaft (Buckten) with Solothurn (Trimbach/Olten).
It seems the pass was used by the ancient romans already as it's very close the to old roman city/fortress of Augusta Raurica.
