WARNING
Pyramid schemes typically work
as a club, where individuals pay their "joining fee" or "gift" or
"donation" to people further "up" the pyramid, in the expectation
that they themselves will get paid by new recruits who join further
"down" the pyramid.
Be wary: they're frauds, scams, confidence tricks, and illegal in
most countries for the simple reason that people are given the
fraudulent impression they will definitely make money when in fact
they are extremely likely to lose money - unless they happen to be
in the top few levels of the pyramid.
It sounds like an easy way to get rich, until you realise that the
only way that anybody makes money in a pyramid scheme is by taking
it directly from other participants - chiefly friends, relatives
and co-workers. Also, it takes a very short time for a geographical
or social community to be swamped with scheme members, the vast
majority of whom will never make any money from the
scheme.
In the geocaching world, there are very
few drawbacks to a pyramid scheme of caches. Do you buy in,
or are you sucked in? Each of the caches in the Pyramid Scheme has
three coordinate cards that are to be left with the cache.
Two of the coordinates listed are real caches (buy in). Each of
these two caches once again have three coordinate cards. The third
coordinate will be to a decoy cache (sucked in). This cache will
have no coordinate cards.
In this multicache, there are a total of twenty-two caches. Fifteen
of the caches are loggable caches, seven are decoys.
In order for any pyramid scheme to work, the true nature of the
scheme must be kept a secret. Therefore to insure that every
geocacher is able to fully enjoy and appreciate "The Pyramid
Scheme", please do not divulge coordinates of the caches and/or
decoys.
You will
find a note pad in the cache that you may take to write the
coordinates on as you work your way through the pyramid. Please do
not remove the coordinate cards from the caches.
