Geocache Description:

This is an easy cache that involves a drive into the country and a very short stroll (30 metres) from the carpark to the cache.

The cache is located on the eastern side of the Ruahine Forest Park at 290 metres ASL. The location provides a gateway to a number of walking tracks in an area that is both scenic and historic. There is a DOC (Department of Conservation) information board nearby. If you choose not to go walking then this is a pleasant place to have a picnic and enjoy the babbling brook.

NOTE: this area of the forest park is designated bird friendly and dogs are not permitted.

Nearest civilisation is Woodville, a quaint little town that sits astride the state highway W-E route just on the eastern side of the Manawatu gorge. If you were leaving Woodville to go to Hawke's Bay you'd look for the sign on your left, "Ruahuine Forest Park", before you hit the 100km speed sign, and turn left up Pinfold Road. Follow the signs to Coppermine Track walk.

The cache is a 200ml Sistema plastic container. It is hidden at ground level under some stones. Log book only, please bring your own pen. Please re-hide well after your finding, replacing stones on top. Thank you.

Enjoy your visit here.
