Geocache Description:

There are plenty of bridges across the Yarra. You are about to visit 12 of them. The cache location will become clear once you collect all the clues from each of the following bridges.

Each of the following waypoints puts you on or very near a bridge. The best form of transport to find this cache is a bicycle, but it could still be done in a car. The first 6 waypoints could be easily be visited by walking only.

If you ride a bike/walk/run, once you get to the first bridge you don't even need to use your GPS at all until you need to look for the final location - you simply walk/run/ride down the bike path, following the river east.

Note: The following waypoint co-ordinates can be downloaded using the .gpx file above (not that you even really need them)

1: Spencer St Bridge S37 49.408 E144 57.371
At the waypoint you are standing near a plaque. A=(number of letters in the last word on the plaque) + 1. On the same plaque (at the south end of the bridge) is written B (the year in which the bridge was constructed)

2: Kings Bridge S37 49.311 E144 57.495
C=the speed limit on this bridge plus 10 (The actual speed limit on the bridge has changed since this cache was created)

3: Queens Bridge S37 49.233 E144 57.682
Approaching from the south, a sign says "Low Bridge Ahead D.E metres"

4: Sandridge Bridge S37 49.214 E144 57.771
In 2001 there were F people in Australia that were born in Belgium.

5: Yarra Footbridge S37 49.173 E144 57.908
At one end of the bridge there is a sign that tells us that it take G minutes to walk to Hamer Concert Hall

6: Princes Bridge S37 49.164 E144 58.107
A sign attached to the side of this bridge gives us a year (H) and from the same location that you can see this sign you will also be able to see that there are I spans (or arches) under the bridge.

7: Swan St S37 49.388 E144 58.615
The bridge, of recent Commonwealth Games fame has a plaque on the south end which tells us that the bridge was opened to traffic in the year J

8: Morell Bridge S37 49.677 E144 59.094
A memorial stone was laid on this bridge on the following date: K/L/M

9: Hoddle St Bridge S37 49.765 E144 59.271
A plaque at the north end tells us that the bridge was opened on N/O/P

10: Church St S37 50.053 E144 59.803
Standing at the waypoint, looking east you can see a green sign on freeway which has R words on it. At the north end of the bridge is stair access only. There are Z stairs.

11: South Yarra to Richmond Train Bridge S37 50.033 E144 59.609
This bridge is accessable only by sets of stairs. There are Z stairs in total to climb up this bridge? While you're at the top, how many individual train rails (Q) run along this bridge? Note that a train requires 2 rails to run on.

12: MacRobertson Bridge S37 49.817 E145 00.773
This was opened S/T/U and has V complete spans (or arches) over the river. The other spans are not completely bounded by the river and start/finish somewhere over the river bank.

This should then lead you to the cache which can be found at

S I(G+I) D(T-L).(C/10)(Q-S)(O-R*E) note: the formula for the last digit contains the letter O not zero
E (F-4899)(H/472)(B-1922) (J-1952)(1899-M).WXY

where W, X and Y can
be found be solving the simple algebraic equations:
W=V+7
A * (X+3)=K
Y + Z/Z=66-3*N + Z/Z

The cache itself is 1 litre sistema clip-top coloured to suit the surroundings.
