Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This cache is located near the tunnel at the east end of Caddy Lake. The tunnel drains Caddy Lake into South Cross Lake. The tunnel can be navigated with a canoe or a small boat.

Boats may be launched at N49 48.357 W95 12.912. A small dock is located at N49 49.575 W95 13.835. From this dock, follow a well defined trail to the cache.

The cache is an ammo box containing among other things, a First to Find Certificate, package tent pegs, emergency blanket, match stick box, etc.

Hiking to the cache is also an option, however this will reduce the enjoyment to the cacher as well as the terrain difficulty rating.

This is one of the few caches that Tromelin still needed to find in the south Whiteshell. I convinced him we should rent a canoe and go for it. Neither one of us have that much experience in a canoe, but decided we'd give it a shot. Didn't have too much trouble and managed to even stay dry and keep the canoe upright. We both wanted to canoe through the tunnel, but figured we better not since we're not that experience and weren't sure if we'd be able to paddle our way back out again. Nice hike to the cache from the dock. The coordinates for that dock were much appreciated. Thanks for the cache and the great view of the tunnel.

I was always convinced you needed a canoe for this cache. With junglehair, we tried driving on a road but came to a stop at a private property. We were then convinced it was easier to rent a canoe at the Caddy Lake rental place and paddle to the cache, which we did. Considering the crazy hike we had done yesterday this seemed like the good choice. With limited canoe experience (1 hour lifetime previous for me) we made it to the pier coords given. We then hiked along the path to find a very well maintain road that goes right to the cache. Many cars passed by, so this cache is certainly easier to get. Nice to see the tunnel. The paddle back was certainly more of a challenge since the wind had picked up a notch.

Nice paddle even with the howling wind.

We took a group of scouts out to find the cache but were unable to find it. This was our first attempt at finding a cache. I think we may have gone astray!

Nice location!

Our first cache ever and what fun it was! Took a boat to the tunnel and hiked the rest of the way in. My husband was the lucky finder for this one! Our four- and six-year-old boys loved the wee trinkets found within. We'd nicely returned the cache to its proper place when I looked down the road to the east to see a large black animal standing there watching us. "What's that?" I asked my husband, quite used to the fact that my previous suspected bear sitings all turned out to be dogs or stumps or the like. "That would be a bear", he replies. "OK, time to go kids!" and off we marched singing "The other day I saw a bear" (possibly a bad choice) and clapping loudly all the way to the gate. The bear, of course, never followed. It was at that point that I relaxed and looked down to see my four-year-old had been walking very briskly with his head down and a very determined look on his face. "I didn't like that bear" he later told us. How brave, I thought, that he didn't cry or make a fuss, but just got walking and got himself out of there. Thanks for an experience we otherwise would not have had!
