This cache is an ammo along a trail that is easy to navigate but
can be wet in places depending on the time of year.
McHugh lake is located 3/4 km south of HWY.1. Turn west immediately
after the underpass of the West Hawk Lake cloverleaf to parking
area. Follow the ski trail to reach the lake. Not recommended for
vehicles with low road clearance. McHugh browns (trout) live up to
the species reputation for being hard to catch. Key to success is
patience and perseverance. NOTE: If you want to fish here, use
artificial lures only.
The cache is located inside Whiteshell Provincial Park and so a
Manitoba Provincial Park Pass is required to access the park.
Provincial parks protect unique natural, cultural and historical
sites; visitors should be respectful and remain on existing
paths/trails.
Update: There is free admission to Manitoba Parks for 2009 and
2010 so no park pass is required! Enjoy!
Congrats to little bushman for being FTF!

This cache was created to add to the number of QUALITY
caches hidden in Manitoba. It is an official BLITZ cache for the
May Madness event. Hope you enjoy the hunt!

August 20, 2008 by Blkbeard&the5pirates (123 found) Nice hike thru to a lake that we'd never heard of. Would definitely think of coming back with a fishing rod. Loved your hint! Took the Healthy Heart Hiker TB to do some more hiking. TFTC M

July 31, 2008 by The Redneck (234 found) Did this one this morning so we could bike in. We were driving down the make shift road thinking... this isn't too bad and then where was water everywhere in the grass. So we ditched the bikes and walked in the rest of the way. Soon we figured out why there was so much water around. There was a beaver dam holding it all back. Looks like it was broken not to long ago as all the grass down by the footbridge is pushed over and the bridge in pushed so a bit of jumping was needed to get across. Found it quickly once we got into the area! TFTC!
