Cache is located along the Squannacook River in West Groton,
MA.
The NRWA (Nashua River Watershed Association), coupled with Nashoba
Paddler, run a program called River Classroom. This program teaches
youth in the surrounding communities about river ecology and
stewardship of the land around the rivers that are part of the
Nashua River Watershed.
Here at the Squannacook, River Classroom provides opportunity for
youth to get a "hands on" experience exploring the river. The
students explore from the shore by studying the macro-invertebrates
that live in the water. They also explore from the water by
actually paddling down the river and taking observations of what
they see.
Wildlife is very prevalent in this greenway area. On the day this
cache was hidden, we spotted a Beaver, several Common Nighthawks,
and even a Bald Eagle.
Take the time to come by this area and enjoy it either from the
shore, or by boat. Please feel free to log the wildlife you see to
help us keep track of what is out there. We have seen many
different birds in this area, as well as mammals including mink and
otters.
