Geocache Description:

This cache is on an island so a boat is required. Once on the island, there are marked trails so reaching and finding the cache shouldn't be too difficult

Samuel De Champlain landed on Royal Island in 1615. Legend has it that he hid a stash of gold somewhere on the island. Maybe you can find it?

This cache is in an orange marine safety kit. Original contents include...

- geocaching page
- logbook
- pencil
- pen
- one of Samuel De Champlains gold nuggets
- Quackers travel bug
- finger puppet
- Delawana Lanyard

The island is owned by the Delawana Inn Resort right across the channel and has many hiking trails. The best docking/entry point to the island is 44.52.338 / 79.49.545

The Royal Hotel was built here in the early 1900's and it's exciting to walk around the island seeing the many remains from the old hotel/resort. Stay on the trails as poison ivy and oak are around. If anyone from the resort approaches you, just say you're here geocaching.

Good luck.
