Geocache Description:

You will need both the coordinates and the text to solve this multi-cache.

Carlisle, MA

Driving From Lowell Road, Turn onto Curve Street, Drive
0.5 mile past the Bog House, turn left onto Hart Farm Road
Park in the “Public Parking” at the end of the Road

Wet-weather/springtime directions: From Lowell Road, turn onto Ember Lane and park at the end. A thin trail leads down to a Colonial (?) era dirt road; turn right and follow it to the bridge mentioned in step two below. This way is also slightly shorter, but you miss the chance for an "aha" moment, and the hidden trailhead on Hart Farm Road.

Otter Slide Cache and Fern Loop caches make good trailheads for this cache. All three can be done in a loop. These caches highlight a new route into Great Brook Farm and its many caches. "Loopy Travel Bug Drop" cache completes a loop between these two areas.

This cache highlights a new, seldom visited, trail that leads into Great Brook Farm State Park and other hiking areas.

1. Follow the trail markers to the end of the trail, where it joins a dirt road

2. Step right to the newly repaired bridge, enjoy the views (Note 1).

3. Return to the trail you came in on & go back 20 meters to an old log across the wall. This log points N at a foot-long piece of aquamarine-PVC-pipe located in the small pines, beside a rock. Read the Coordinates and distance along the trail SW to “Elephant Hump and Elephant Nose".

4. Return to Elephant Hump and Elephant Nose (about 12 meters apart).

Many thanks to g-o-cashers, who provided coordinates and other help.

Note 1 Turning left (North) here takes you past a, track into the clearing, the East end of Otter Slide Trail, and leads to the Fern Loop (Right turn, then left turn). You can do these three caches in a loop if desired. You can also continue along Fern Loop and do caches in Great Brook Farm State Park.
