The nature on the shores of the Vääksy canal is very beautiful,
especially during summer. People who visit the canal seldom take
the time to walk along the canal and observe the beautiful nature
around it. This cache offers you and your friends an opportunity to
enjoy this exceptional environment. The surroundings are at their
best in the summertime, but it is also possible to find the cache
during winter. The walking distance from the start to the cache is
less than one kilometre.
In the given coordinates, a micro container is hidden. In the
container are the coordinates and an encrypted hint for the next
point, where you will also find a micro sized container with the
coordinates and a hint for the next one, and so on. Each
intermediate container is hidden in, or under some man-made
structure and they should be pretty easy to find. There are
altogether six intermediate points which are scattered on opposite
sides of the canal. All the odd numbered points are on the
northwestern side and even numbered points are on the southeastern
side.
To find all the points and the final stash, two separate teams
are required with a means to communicate. PMR radios would be ideal
for the purpose, but mobile phones will of course work just as well
(although they are not nearly as much fun). I recommend using
channel 7 on your PMR. It is also possible to find the cache on
your own, but it will be very frustrating as there are only two
bridges across the canal and you will have to run back and forth
six times across it to find all the points.
The actual cache is a 1.8 litre freezer box and it is located on
the northwestern side of the canal, on the lake Vesijärvi side. It
is near the spot where flocks of birdwatchers gather each spring
(and autumn) to observe the arctic migration of birds.
Luonto Vääksyn kanavan reunoilla on erityisen kaunista, varsinkin
kesällä. Kanavalla vierailevat ihmiset eivät silti yleensä viitsi
kävellä kanavan vierustaa luontoa katsellen. Tämä kätkö tarjoaa
sinulle ja ystävillesi mahdollisuuden nauttia tästä
harvinaislaatuisesta ympäristöstä. Paikka on kauneimmillaan
kesäaikaan, mutta kätkön voi löytää myös talvella. Kävelymatkaa
kätkölle kertyy alle kilometri.
Annetuissa koordinaateissa on kätkettynä filmipurkki. Purkissa
on koordinaatit ja koodattu vihje seuraavalle pisteelle, jossa on
myös filmipurkki, jossa on koordinaatit ja vihje seuraavalle
pistelle - ja niin edelleen. Jokainen välikätkö on piilotettu
jonkin ihmisen tekemän rakennelman alle tai sisälle ja niiden
pitäisi olla helppoja löydettäviä. Välipisteitä on kaiken kaikkiaan
kuusi kappaletta ja ne on ripoteltu eri puolille kanavaa.
Parittomat pisteet ovat luoteispuolella ja parilliset kaakon
puolella.
Kaikkien pisteiden ja lopullisen kätkön löytämiseen tarvitaan
kaksi ryhmää ja jokin tapa, jolla he voivat kommunikoida keskenään.
Paras tapa kommunikointiin on pari PMR-radioita, mutta
matkapuhelimellakin se toki onnistuu (vaikkei se ole puoliksikaan
niin hauskaa). Suosittelen PMR-radioissa käyttämään kanavaa 7.
Kätkö on myös mahdollista löytää yksin, mutta se saattaa käydä
turhauttavaksi, koska kanavan yli on vain kaksi siltaa ja joudut
juoksemaan edestakaisin kuusi kertaa löytääksesi kaikki
pisteet.
Lopullinen kätkö on 1.8 litran pakasterasia ja se löytyy kanavan
luoteispuolelta, läheltä Vesijärven rantaa. Se on lähellä paikkaa,
johon lintuharrastajat parveilevat keväisin (ja syksyisin)
tarkkailemaan lintujen arktista muuttoa.
