Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

The Prairie Path 12 Step Program is a series of caches created to reduce geocachers addiction to oil. Rather than driving from cache to cache, this series is placed along the Illinois Prairie Path and is most easily completed by bike. Each cache is no more than 12 Steps from the edge of the Prairie Path allowing geobikers easy access to the caches and the ability to keep an eye on their ride. As with most hides along the Prairie Path tree cover and the associated “your coordinates were off” comments are inevitable so if you find it and have a better read than we did, please feel free to post your revised numbers.

Walk the Line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

~ Johnny Cash

I went looking for this one on a Sunday morning where it was threatening to snow. I walked in from the west rather than risk drawing attention to myself by trying to get to the PP from a residential area. It was a nice snowy walk in along the deserted path, and I took my time and enjoyed the views of the prairie to the south of the path. I got to gz, and was glad I had looked at the clue, as this is a typical "side of the prairie path" overgrown area, and further the power company has done their usual hack job on the trees near the power lines - the clue made winter caching a little more reasonable. This still took a lot of looking, as it was nicely concealed. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and was double checking the placement when I realized a dog was on the Prairie Path watching me! He had gotten pretty far ahead of his owners, so they couldn't see me or what I was doing until I stepped onto the path. The owners considerately called the dog back. Thanks for the cache!

No luck today. Bugs weren't really a factor, although wish we had them to blame.

This one almost made God's lil Cache spit nails! LOL! I finally called the hootie though. Log was completely soaked and baggie was torn. We left a new paper for the log but didn't have any baggies to keep it dry.
