Located at the Old Fort Hat Creek Stage Stop on the
Cheyenne-Deadwood Stage Route. In addition to Ft. Laramie could be
one of the most historic places in NE Wyoming.
Directions: From Lusk drive 13 miles north on Hwy 85 to Hat Creek
Rd. (Stop & read the Historic Marker on the hiway turnout) Turn
east on Hat Creek Rd and drive 2 miles. Turn south on #65 Stage Rd
and drive one mile. Stage stop is on the west side of the road.
Cache is green ammo box with usual trade items, log book, pen and
pencil. Placed with permission of local land owner and stage stop
caretaker. There are several Niobrara County citizens who are
working hard to protect this site and get it designated as a
Registered Historic Landmark. Please leave area better than you may
have found it - as always CITO. Enjoy this piece of our wonderful
