Geocache Description:

The Event

Join us at Potter's Ponds campground for the 6th birthday celebration of Utah's first ever geocache! The event is listed for Saturday, August 26th, but campsite #6 has been reserved for Friday through Sunday, and there's plenty of room for everyone there! A potluck dinner will be held Saturday evening around 6:00 pm, so bring your appetite and something to share. We'll provide marshmallows and chocolate-covered grahams for everybody, and we'll do the usual campfire stories and tall tales that evening as well.

Check this page or the UTAG forum for updates, and please feel free to post any questions that you may have.

Also noteworthy is that it will probably get pretty cold at the campground at night. It's at 9,000' elevation, and last year it got cold enough to use the furnace in my trailer. And on that note, if anybody could bring some firewood it would be very much appreciated.

Getting There

From state highway 31, turn south at N 39° 34.948' W 111° 15.074' onto Miller Flat Road (also known as the road to Joe's Valley), and just keep going south for about 11 miles until you get to N 39° 26.908' W 111° 15.429'. From there, turn west and travel about another 0.75 mi. until you get to site #6. The road is well-maintained gravel and is suitable for any vehicle.

Geo-Poker Run

Special thanks to Basset for setting up a Geo-Poker Run this year. The poker run will be held from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm on Saturday. There are five caches hidden within hiking distance from the campground at Potter's Ponds. Each cache contains numbers from 1 to 52.

The Rules:
1. Each person must sign in and pick up the coordinates for the five caches anytime after 10:00 am on Saturday.
2. Each registered person will take one number from each cache.
3. The numbers correspond with a playing card on the master list.
4. Prizes will be awarded for the highest hands, and one secret prize will be awarded.
5. The prizes will be given out starting at 6:00 pm. You do not have to be present at that time. We will be happy to arrange to get it to you.
6. The most important rule, have fun!
