Cache Logs

I was determined to find this one today and resolve my last DNF. The whole way down the 3/8 mile I was pysching myself up, 'You're going to find it', 'It's going to be in the right place', 'It will be a quick find'. And sure enough, it was. It was certainly helpful that the poison ivy, which was the bulk of the ground covering foliage, had died down and you could actually see the ground now. Just compare my pictures from July to Sept. Sure enough the cache was found right where I thought it should be, but was very well hidden, I think I may have been a bit lucky today. I think this cache needs a hint.

Great hide and cool site! Wished the signs were all still there though . My GPS seemed to want to take me to a different spot but my backup was spot on.

I was looking forward to finding this cache, but that will have to be delayed. We started down a closed road and luckily the 4x4 had no trouble getting through. We were there pondering why there was a ambulance lingering in the parking lot, but nothing was apparent. So we started down the trail, remarking the imperial distance measurement meant nothing to us. With lightning pace we out ran the mosquitos only stopping once to read the remaining sign on the trail. We dodge a leaf or two of poison ivy on the path before getting to the cabin where we were presented with a sea of poison ivy in every direction. I circled around looking for an avenue of attack, with none available I phoned-a-friend to pin point where to look to minimize the exposure. Even with all the help available, turning the forest upside down in all directions and getting myself thoroughly covered in PI I wasn't able to locate the cache :( I'll be back, sooner than later I hope.

The hide out

I suspect a ertyu DNF log will follow this one. And he is more worthy of DNF credit as he actually searched for this one. I saw all of the poison ivy in the area and basically stood back and watched him look. He was in there for a good hour. The mosquitoes were relentless as well, so I went back to the truck early. The cabin, on the other hand, was WAY cool. I suspect it has been re-built. But it is sure nice that people are preserving this site.
