Slotsbryggen er et projekt for en spændende ny bydel
i Nykøbing F. med en kanalhavn omgivet af boliger,
caféer, restauranter, butikker, kultursteder og spændende miljøer for mennesker.

ENG:
The Slotsbryggen is a project in an interesting new part of Nykoebing Falster, with a canalharbur surroundet by flats, cafe's, resturants, shops, culturel spots and different enviouments for all people.

Nykøbing slot
Slottet lå på et næs. Nord for skar en bugt sig dybt ind i landet, så slottet var beskyt-
tet fra alle sider. Borgen har tidligt været i kongeslægtens eje. Af dokumenter, der er udstedt her, kan vi se, at det kongelige hof jævnligt holdt til her middelalderen igen-
nem.

I slutningen af 1500-tallet begyndte kongen, Frederik d. 2. at lade slottet ombygge i nederlandsk renaissancestil, så det blev passende som enkesæde for hans hustru, dronning Sophie. Sophie boede på slottet til sin død i 1636.

Slottet og hele krongodset på Falster blev i 1763 sat til salg for at hjælpe på den slunkne statskasse. Slottet blev solgt til nedrivning, og byggemateria-
lerne blev spredt rundt om på Lolland-Falster.

I dag findes der kun en beskeden ruin tilbage af ét af tårnene, Fars Hat, men fra tid til anden dukker der rester af det store bygningsværk op ved udgravninger i byen.

Nykoebing Castle.
The castle was buildt on a cape. North of the cape a bay cut deep in to the land, so the castle was protected from alle sides.
In earlier times the castle was owned by the Royal Families. Though the middel ages the royal court has frequenlty been at the castle, witch old dockuments shows.
At the late 1500 the King Frederik 2. began an rebuilding af the castle in to Dutch Renessaince this way it wold be a prober residence for his wife Queen Sophie, when she became widow. Sophie lived in the castle on to her death in 1636.

The castle and the crown lands at Falster was put out for sale in 1763 to help the bad economy of the county.
The castle was sold and teard down in pieces and the materials were spread al over Lolland and Falster.

To day theres only a small remain of the castle from one of the towers called "fars hat" (fathers Hat), but from time to time parts of the castle shows up in diggings in town.
