"Drive in Cache" especially for motorcyclists (and others...)
Der Umbrail Pass (2501 müM) verbindet auf einer
Länge von 33km Santa Maria (CH) mit Bormio (I). Im Aufstieg von
Santa Maria ist ein etwa 3km langes Stück nicht asphaltiert. Das
wird wohl noch Jahre so bleiben, machen doch diverse Auto- und
Pneuhersteller an diesem Pass immer wieder ausführlich Testfahrten.
So gesehen bietet der Strasse für jeden einen Lieblingsabschnitt
;-)
Auf beiden Seiten gibt es genügend Kehren und Kurven für
Pistenwetzer. Die Aussicht lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig.
Der Cache befindet sich sozusagen im "Niemandsland".

Umbrail (2501 m) connects with a 33km long road Santa Maria
(Switzerland) with Bormio (Italy). It's a phantastic narrow pass
road with lots of turns, bends and serpentines, as well as tunnels
and galleries. Riding up from St. Maria there is still some 3km
unpaved road. It probably will stay so for while because the car
industry (Mercedes, etc) and tireproducers every year make their
test drives up this pass. In this way I think that every
rider/driver will find he's favourit piece of road to drive.
Of course there are beautiful lookouts too.
The cache somehow is between the borders...
