This cache is situated at Riversdale Beach, the largest beach resort in the Wairarapa. It is popular in summer for sun bathers with it’s long sandy beach, or just to relax and listen to the waves rolling onto the shore. Sheltered from winds and strong waves it is a really safe beach for swimming, so you can take your family there for a great day out. There is an active surf club, and you can charter a fishing boat for an enjoyable day’s fishing. If you are a scuba enthusiast, there is an exposed reef about 3 km out; ideal for divers. There’s a Golf Course with a licensed Clubhouse as well.
The fishing off the Wairarapa Coast is superb! There’s tuna, hapuka, snapper, gurnard, kahawai, red cod, to name a few. Local sports shops in Masterton can help you with any requirements and information.
So go ahead ….. Follow the signs from Masterton via the Castlepoint Road for approximately 24kms, turning right onto Blairlogie Langdale Road, takes you to Riversdale Beach. At the end of Blue Pacific Parade look for the small green doggy dooooo’s bin, and you are in the right vicinity. A small wooden bridge is near by, taking the track over to the Public Toilets.
