The Cross Hill trail system is part of Cape Elizabeth's Greenbelt trail system. Established in 2000, the trail system here is often traveled by mountain bikers and pedestrians alike. This area was used during the early 1900's by the military for testing cold weather gear. It's also Cape's highest ground.
There are several points of access for the trail system, including the Dyer-Hutchinson trailhead on Sawyer Street (N43 36.231 W070 16.021); however, the closest access point is at N43 35.962 W070 15.595 for about a half-mile walk. Parking is allowed on the side of the street. The trail is marked with a post with a Greenbelt sign. Look for these signs along the trail.
