This cache has been placed with permission from the Maine Department of Transportation.
You are lucky, there are not too many rest areas left. The people inside are friendly and know a lot about the cache. Take a break and stop for a quick cache snack at the Hampden rest area. No need to bring change for this vending machine, but be sure to leave something of value if you take something of value. Classic hide should be an easy find for most anyone. After stretching your legs for a bit, just walk down the path and there you are. Don't let the map fool you, lawn all the way there and far away from the mosquito swamp. There are mosquito's here big enough to carry small animals and children off so bring spray, head nets and maybe a shot gun, although that might just make them mad.
