Geocache Description:

“Tucked into a mountain valley just below the Canadian International Border lies Fourth Connecticut Lake (elevation 2670’). Here in the headwater region of the Connecticut River, water gathers in a small, quiet, pristine 2.5 acre pond rimmed with abundant plants and wildlife. The gentle, gurgling brook flowing from this pond is the beginning of the Connecticut River, New England’s greatest and longest river. “

This is where it all began - the beginning of the Connecticut River and the start of our geocaching one year ago. The cache is located on the trail which circles the Fourth Connecticut Lake. The trailhead is located behind the US Customs Station at the US/Canadian Border on Rte. 3. The trail up to the lake is steep, winds in and out of Canada, and provides magnificent views of the area.

The cache is a small container – you don’t need to leave the trail to find.
