For centuries the Grail Quest has been with us. From the religious traditions of seeking the Cup of Christ to the literary quest of the Arthurian Legend to Don Quixote, people have sought “The Grail”. The Grail first appeared in literature in around 1200 A.D. with the story of Perceval (Parsivil) who sought the Grail not to find it, but to find what it was, a quest of discovery.
In the best sense, a Grail Quest is that which challenges one’s self to go beyond their comfort level, their norm. It is a quest of self discovery...
As geocachers, we routinely put ourselves in places that most other people don’t go to and don’t experience. Every now and then, a unique challenge comes up for us to attempt if we dare.
So, witness the Gray L Quest. It is a caching adventure that will hopefully make you push yourself and test yourself if you are so inclined. As with many Grail Quests, many a knight begin it, but few complete it. Remember, it is a quest of self discovery and pushing yourself.
So, dear knight (male or female, Sir or Dame), if you start this quest, it will be of an unknown duration fraught with challenges of unspecified manner. You may seek aid from kent1915 if you so choose or by calling on the aid of other questors. But be warned of physical challenges, of mental anguish and of false leads. There are not even any containers for your tears with the false leads! Remember, many a knight met an unhappy end by their dragons leaving not even a tell tale sign.
To be nice, you can log each leg if you are so inclined under the Gray L Quest heading, but I warn you, should you provide specific information about any of the stops along the way, or provide any hints in you log and it will be deleted. For the quest is about discovery and letting those that seek the Gray L cache discover for themselves if they are so bold. The final objective is an object of functional mechanical art that has a bonus. You may need special equipment at varying times of the year and the rating may be harder or easier at varying times of the year. It is winter friendly... if you like a challenge!
