We are aware that this is one of the oldest caches on Tenerife so want to preserve it in its original state. Therefore we have left the information written by Lacruz all those years ago.
We strongly suggest that any visit to the peninsula starts at Abades and avoids confrontation with the two guard stations, one of which is at the original parking and the second is close to 04 - Abades Village Trail GC7HFGM.

The 'church'
To get there, take motorway exit 39 on TF1 (El Poris) and enter the path at: 28°09.108N 016°25.857W. It gets you directly into the village and to the cache area. Walking distance from the above coords around 1500 meters.
About the History of the 'village':
In the beginning of the last century, there was a leprosy station at the place (probably without leprous people). Later on at the time of the Generalissimo Franco there was a real small village (actually only a couple of houses) there. Then the inhabitants were moved to other places and the army was using it many years to exercise street fighting. The army even built alot of additional houses around the area to make it a more real village. They even built a CHURCH!!! Since many years it is not used any more.
Note added 05/16/10: Since a couple of months the Guardia Civil is sometimes exercising Anti Terror battles in the 'village'. Also there are meanwhile some signs, that it is forbidden to walk through the village. I therefore recommend (it is still up to you), to have a short walk from the beach in Abades ( 28°08.583 N 016°26.341 W). It brings you directly to the cache (no fence, no 'forbidden' signs) and there is no need to walk through the village.
Note added 08/30/13: Finally placed the box behind the church as it got muggled the 2nd time.

De la historia del 'pueblo':
Al comienzo del último siglo habia una leprosería en este lugar (muy probable sin leprosos). En la época del Generalissimo Franco habia un pueblo muy pequeño (solo unas pocas casas). Los inhabitantes del pueblo fueron movidos a otros lugares y el ejército lo usaba para hacer maniobras de la lucha callejera. El ejército aún construyó muchas casas suplementarios, para hacerlo un pueblo más real. Construyeron aún una IGLESIA!!! Desde hace muchos años ya no se usa el pueblo.
Aviso añadido 16.5.2010: Desde unos meses la Guardia Civil a veces hace ejercicios de combates en el 'pueblo'. También hay mientrás unos carteles, que es prohibido caminar por el pueble. Por eso recomiendo (todavía es tú decisión) caminar desde la playa de Abades ( 28°08.583 N 016°26.341 W). Puedes caminar directamente al cache (no hay valla ni carteles).

Um ins Dorf zu kommen, nimm Exit 39 auf der TF1 (El Poris) und folge dem Weg, der bei: 28°09.108N 016°25.857W beginnt. Er bringt Dich direkt ins Dorf und zum Bereich des Cache. Zu Fuß sind es von den obigen Koordinaten etwa 1500 Meter.
Über die Geschichte des 'Dorfes':
Zu Beginn des letzten Jahrhunderts, gab es eine Leprastation an diesem Ort (wohl ohne Leprakranke) In späteren Jahren zur Zeit des Generalissimo Franco, existierte hier ein wirkliches kleines Dorf (bestehend aus nur ein paar Häusern). Dann wurden die Bewohner gezwungen, ihre Häuser zu verlassen und die Armee benutzte das Dörfchen viele Jahre lang, um Straßenkampf zu üben. Das Militär baute sogar eine Menge zusätzlicher Häuser, um es wie ein wirkliches Dorf aussehen zu lassen. Man baute sogar eine KIRCHE!!! Seit vielen Jahren wird das Gelände aber jetzt nicht mehr benutzt.
Note hinzugefügt 16.5.10: Seit ein paar Monaten übt die Guardia Civil manachmal den Anti Terror Kampf im 'Dorf'. Außerdem gibt es mittlerweile das ein oder andere Schild, daß es verboten ist, durch das Dorf zu gehen. Ich empfehle deshalb (es bleibt immer noch Deine Entscheidung) einen kurzen Spaziergang vom Strand in Abades ( 28°08.583 N 016°26.341 W). Er bringt Dich direkt zum Cache (kein Zaun, keine Verbotsschilder) und Du mußt nicht durch das Dorf laufen.
Note hinzugefügt 08/30/13: Nachdem die Box binnen kurzem zweimal 'gemuggled' wurde, habe ich sie jetzt hinter der Kirche versteckt.
