Continers of this kind were once very common here.

Although this Fort is really about the long guns, other weapons were used here as well and the Service personnel were required to train and qualify with them and this is where they did it. The pit that you see is where personell hoisted the targets for those stationed somewhere down the field to fire at. They fired out to sea.

Anyway, please be discrete around the cache area, there can often be a lot of traffic here. There is a small trail that leads to the cache, it was here before the cache was placed. This area is open daily from 6 Am to 10 PM and there is a $5 fee to enter this park.
