Gaivotas is a viewpoint situated above Lagoa do Fogo :
one of Sao Miguel's largest craterlakes in the center of the
island. This lagoa itself is situated at an elevation of almost 600
m., but this will and cannot be the startingpoint of this hike
!
The cachesite can be visited via the Percurso Pedestres
Classificados / Official Walking Trail PRC 2 starting ouside
the village of Praia.
Startingpoint: N 37 43.669 W 025 28.288 ,elev. 225 m.
Length: 12 km.
This hike knows much variation: forest,jungle-like,lots
of all kinds of flowers, along levada's,slightly alpine, fantastic
views. And all very quiet.
A true marvel for the dedicated hiker!
