Autorom prveho projektu nadrze bol J.M.Hell, ktory v polovici 18.st. viedol jej vystavbu. V roku 1829 sa vsak hradza pretrhla, nasledne ju rozobrali a material pouzili na stavbu novej hradze nizsie v udoli. Pretoze nova hradza bola vacsia, museli zacat dopravovat material az z Cervenej studne. Na tento ucel postavili na povrchu kolajovu trat na sposob banskej kolajovej drahy, po ktorej sa pohybovali banske voziky. Bola to prva kolajnicova trat na Slovensku. Voda z Klingera sa pouzivala na pohon taznych strojov pre sachty Ondrej a Maximilian a na pohon cerpacich strojov na sachte Zigmund. Zaciatkom 20. storocia bola voda vedena aj pre Tabakovu fabriku v Stiavnici na kropenie tabaku. V sucastnosti sa Klinger vyuziva na akumulovanie povrchovych vod, ako zdroj uzitkovej vody a na rekreaciu a chov ryb.
Z banskych sacht je verejnostou najvyhladavanejsia sachta Ondrej, kde je zriadene Banske muzeum v prirode (skanzen) a je vzdialene len 350 m vychodne od hradze Klingera.

Author of the first project of the dam was J.M.Hell. He was also in charge of its construction in the middle of 18th century. In 1829 the dam collapsed. It was subsequently taken apart and the material was used for a construction of a new dam down the river. Because the new dam was bigger additional material had to be delivered all the way from "Red Well". Constructors build a surface railway between the two sites for this purpose. It was the first railway in Slovakia in its construction similar to underground railways used in mines. Water from Klinger was used mainly as a power source for mining machines for shafts "Ondrej" and "Maximilian" and to power water pumps in shaft "Zigmund". In addition in the beginning of 20th century, the water was also used to irrigate tobacco fields. In present times Klinger is mostly used to accumulate surface water, as a source of utility water, and for fishing and recreation.
From all the shafts in this region "Ondrej" is the one that draws most attention. It is mostly because it's been converted into a mining museum. This shaft is only 350m to the east of the Klinger dam.
