Shortly after the attacks of September 11th, 2001, 4America place a cache, Patriotic Pride - GC20BE, in memorial to the events that had just taken place.
Five years later, the cache is still there and we still have not forgotten those that died in the 9/11 events or those that fight or work to protect 
our freedom every day, 24/7/365.
The initial attack happened on otherwise sunny and quiet day at 8:46 eastern time. 16 minutes later the second plane struck the towers. For almost an an hour first responders attempted evacuations and rescues until the south tower collapsed only to be followed by the north tower 46 minutes later.
Often an event this big we lose perspective of how tragic it really was. These weren't just "people" or "first responders". These were friends. They were brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. They were grandparents. Over 1,600 individuals lost a spouse or partner and over 3,000 children lost a parent in the attacks. 1 in 5 of us knew or were related in some way to someone that lost their life that day. 115 nations had citizens that were lost and we lost over 340 firefighters and over 60 law enforcement officers at ground zero on September, 11th 2001.
America reacted quickly in the aftermath. Fireman, policeman, health care professionals, construction crews and citizens rallied in clean-up efforts, family well being and financial support, blood donations and other services. Citizens and governments from around the world also offered and delivered much needed assistance.
The cache in Kansas is labeled #1. We are proud to join in an effort to get at least one memorial cache in every state, this being the thirteenth in the series placed on the fifth anniversary of our loss. There is also already at least one International cache location.
