FernGully is a traditional ammo box cache located a short walk from the Wunnegan Conservation parking area on Crooked Pond Drive in Boxford. Some climbing among sometimes slippery boulders is required.
FernGully is a traditional ammo box cache located in the 135 acre Wunnegan Conservation Area, just a short walk from the parking area located on Crooked Pond Drive. There's no significant bushwhacking required. In the spring the trail is wet. Use bug spray and check yourself and your children for deer ticks when you get home.
In 2002, the 135-acre Sawyer-Richardson property, located in Boxford near the Middleton town line, was purchased with money from Boxford’s Community Preservation Act fund (which is created via a property tax surcharge and is matched by the state when land is acquired), and with donations from area residents, to prevent the parcel from being developed into a 40 unit subdivision. The parcel has been renamed to the Wunnegan Conservation Area, and is managed by the Boxford Trails Association (BTA/BOLT). The FernGully sign, and others like it in Wunnegan, were placed by BTA/BOLT, and are unrelated to the cache.

The parking closest to the cache is available on Crooked Pond Drive at N042 38.061, W070 59.680, or on Middleton Road at N42 38.413, W70 59.466 (both in Boxford).
