Muránsky hrad, patriaca k
najvyššie položeným hradom na Slovensku.
Zaciatky hradu spadajú do obdobia po tatárskom vpáde. Dali ho
postavit pravdepodobne Bebekovci, predstavitelia šlachty v
Gemeri. Prvá písomná zmienka o nom pochádza z r. 1271. K prvej
známej prestavbe došlo okolo polovice 15. storocia, ked ho
obsadili Jiskrove a bratrícke vojská. Od r. 1529 do r. 1549 bol v
rukách lúpežného rytiera Mateja Bašu. Po r. 1610 sa
dostal do vlastníctva Séciovcov a r. 1666 sa stal miestom prípravy
protihabsburského sprisahania. R. 1702 vyhorel a už nikdy
nebol opravený.
Slovak castles and their ruins are not appreciated treasures in
Slovakia. Such treasure is also ruin of Muran castle, which belongs
the highest situated castle in Slovakia.
First reports of Muran castle appear in the period following the
Tatar Invasion. It was probably built by the Bebek family,
representatives of Gemer Province's noblemen. Mentioted in a
written report of 1271, the castle was reconstructed in the
mid-15th century after being taken by Jiskra's and late Hussite
armies. Between 1529 and 1549 the castle was the lair of
robber-baron Matthias Basa. After 1610 owned by the Séci family; in
1666 Castle Muran became known as a place of preparations for the
anti-Habsburg uprising. It was consumed by fire in 1702 and
abandoned in ruins.

a k horárni pod hradom (chata), potom krátko a strmo na hrad. Cez 2
hodiny.
Zo sedla Javorinka (na ceste Murán-Cervená Skala), cez
Velkú lúku: Po 
okolo žrebcína k horárni pod hradom
(chata), potom krátko a strmo na hrad. Odporúcané!
Po vrstevnici. Vhodné pre cyklistov. Pešo okolo 2hod.
O hrade Murán, Muranskej planine, ci chove koní na Velkej lúke
sa docítate viac napr. aj na sharkan.net. V Národnom parku dodržujte návštevný poriadok! Ku skrýši a
okoliu pristupujte opatrne a ohladuplne!

From village Murán: By the old castle road
follow the red touristic mark to the forest cottage under the
castle, then shortly and steeply to the castle. It takes cca 1,5
hour. Difficult!
From the saddle Predná Hora (way Murán - Cervená
Skala): By the hill side Siancov to the Veselíny Cave and
to the forest cottage under the castle, then shortly and steeply to
the castle. Around 2 hours.
From the saddle Javorinka (way Murán - Cervená
Skala), through the Velká lúka: Follow the blue touristic
sign around stud to the forest cottage under the castle, then
shortly and steeply to the castle. Commended!
Follow the contour-line. Good for bikers. On foot around 2
hours.
