This cache is part of a series based on the idea of Portkeys from the Harry Potter Books. Portkeys are enchanted objects, often a piece of supposedly worthless junk, which when touched transports a person to a preprogrammed location. (Thanks to Harry Potter Lexicon for definition)
Many trails criss-cross this area. Take care during hunting season. Let me know if terrain ratings are too high- based on worst case conditions.
This Portkey, when touched will transport you to Italy. This cache is filled with items related to Italy- grapes, brushes (Italy is known for great artists), crayons-for you great artists, lemon cookies (double wrapped to keep animals out) made in Italy, an anatomical model, and macaroni (to eat or to make a great piece of artwork with).
Terrain changes depending on the time of the year. Take care if you choose to drive in- and please obey driving restrictions posted (see pictures). The road has washed out- and some shallow wading may be needed- unless you're a good jumper. It's up to you which end of the road you enter from- both have smiliar obstacles. One way- Off rte 87- just west of parking for Amethyst House. NOT A GREAT PLACE FOR TBs- LIMITED VISITS.
This area is designated as a wildlife management area- hunting is allowed- so please take care. See picture of sign for regulations.
