About a one-mile hike from the trailhead at Long Trail Inn toward Deer Leap Overview, Rte 4 in Killington/Sherburne (don't be fooled by your GPS reading in the parking area -- look up!) PLEASE TAKE THE DEAR LEAP TRAIL instead of bush-whacking up the face. They have had erosion problems and don't want people going up the front. Be sure to continue on to Deer Leap and enjoy the view! Parking available at Long Trail Inn (great place for a beer after the hike!) or across the street.
I made the terrain 3 stars because the trail has some rocks/roots and involves some climbing, but is fine for children over 4. It can get a bit muddy after it rains, so wear boots if you have them. Tupperware with assorted toys. Visited again 10/7/07 - replaced the container, and added some new booty, including some more scratch tickets for the next few FTF'ers!! Visited again 10/10/10 and couldn't find the container, so I replaced it with a new one. Could use a better container and some more toys if you're heading up there. 10/2012: Got muggled earlier this year, so we put a new container with new goodies in place! 8/2020: Refreshed the container and log because it needed attention per the last few finds. Also put it back where it belongs -- please do the same if you find it!
