Geocache Description:

Located within Ambury Farm Regional Park. Follow the Foreshore Walk.

Only 15km from central Auckland, Ambury welcomes urban visitors to experience a working farm, with its variety of cattle and sheep breeds, and a changing assortment of goats, chickens, kune kune pigs and a horse or two! Ambury Regional Park plays host to school education programmes in the setting of a working farm.

It is a volcanic area and its numerous stone walls, mounds, house sites and midden bear testament to how rich the land was during early Maori occupation.

The coastal reefs and inlets on the park's Manukau foreshore are home to more than 86 species of birds. During big autumn tides more than 20,000 migratory birds from the Arctic and the South Island have been observed in the air.

Like all our farm parks, dogs are not permitted because of the danger to native birds and farm animals.

Cache is small camouflaged 1 litre clip top box. PLEASE REPLACE SO THAT THE NEXT PERSON CAN REACH IT WITHOUT DIFFICULTY - WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT BEING PUT TOO FAR BACK! THANKS
