Hier stand im Zweiten Weltkrieg eine Nachschub- und Instandhaltungsbasis der Luftwaffe. Von hier starteten aber auch Transportgeschwader zur Westfront.

Die Startbahn lief bergab zum heutigen Autohof Mönkeloh.
