Take Exit 5A off I 93 in Randolph, Massachusetts. You will be heading south on route 28. Go through the first set of lights and take a left at the third set of lights onto Pond Street. Follow this road past a reservoir and then a tiny bridge. Look for a small parking area on the left hand side with a Picnic Table. If you pass Blue Hill Cemetery you have gone too far. The cache is a large white and red .thermos.

The cache is located in the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Blue Hills Reservation but on a little known piece of land that was cut off from the main area when they constructed what is now I 93.
The cache is off this old route 128 which was a once major artery south of Boston. Old route 128 is now overgrown and part of a small trail system. When they built the major highway about 50 years ago, this small stretch became a drag strip for teenagers so they constructed a series of speed bumps to discourage that use. When walking or jogging on this stretch it is like jumping low hurdles.
After 50 years of low hurdles, around Halloween, 2006, the low hurdles were removed presumably for the cross country skiers. The drag strip has been restored but if you look closely you can see the pavement discoloration where the low hurdles originally were.
After parking, head down old route 128 (the paved trail). There will be easy bushwhacking required. Most of the hike will be on macadam. Good for strollers, big wheels, bicycles, etc. Have the little ones look for the yellow dots in the middle of the road.
IMPORTANT: The coordinates will bring you to the "Guide Rock". Stand behind the rock with your back to old Rt 128. You will see remnants of and old stone wall due north and oriented west to east. walk straight to the stone wall. When you reach the wall, follow it west until you sight the 3' high old tree stump. Back track 10' to the cache hidden on the north side of the stone wall.
