Geocache Description:

This celebrates the 5th Anniversary of the O-Train opening at Carleton Station on October 15th, 2001. These trains will keep running because in December 2006 they killed the proposed, very expensive extension, doubling and electrification of the line. The Transportation Task Force Report of June 6, 2007 recommended the light rail diesel trains keep running for many years to come.

The hiding place is by, but not on the northbound train platform so you do not need to pay for a ticket nor show your OCTranspo pass, but lots of Geocachers do come by O-Train. At the NE corner of the shelter (outside the fence) you will see that the shoulder height beam that holds up that corner of the shelter is hollow, the cache is up there. When you return it, please do not push it up too high, or we will need a coat hanger to get it down again. There are the fewest muggles around just after your train has arrived and both trains have departed at :07, :22, :37, and :52 after the hour.

The cache is a magnetic key case and stuck at the bottom corner of that post. You do not need to enter the platform/station, in fact it is easiest to reach from the outside.

It contains a log booklet, pencil, a piece of glued in N gauge track, a "Calgary LRT" 49¢ postage stamp, a miniature lift snowplow blade sign, and a "No Expressway" sticker.

Did you take the train to get here? You can take your bike, strollers and wheelchairs on the train year-round. During the week you must pay for (well enforced) parking, on weekends Carleton currently allows free parking.
